Switching

A nine-step switching checklist

Move the service in an order that protects the number and keeps a record of remaining obligations.

7 September 2026 · 1 min read · Independent guidance
01 / Switching

Prepare before submitting an order

  1. Check the current account owner, active lines and service end date.
  2. Check the exact phone's compatibility with the receiving provider.
  3. Resolve carrier unlocking with the original provider.
  4. Review the device balance, promotional credits and separate services.
  5. Obtain the account details required by the new provider through trusted channels.
02 / Switching

Start the transfer deliberately

  1. Obtain the current number-transfer credentials from the existing provider. Keep them private and check any expiry.
  2. Follow the new provider's activation and porting process while keeping the old number active. Use trusted Wi-Fi for eSIM setup when needed.

Do not submit overlapping transfers to several providers. If the move stalls, ask which field or stage is blocking it. Repeated cancellation and resubmission can make the status harder to understand.

03 / Switching

Verify and close the remaining tasks

  1. Test incoming and outgoing calls, SMS, voicemail and data on the new line. Check account-recovery messages and any connected watch.
  2. Confirm the old mobile line's status and settle remaining obligations. Review other household lines, home internet, equipment returns and final payments separately.

Keep records until the final bill is reconciled. A number port does not automatically cancel every product on the old account, and it does not erase a financed phone balance.
