Verify who started the request

If a transfer or SIM-change message is unexpected, reach the provider through a known official route. Caller ID and a familiar brand name in a text do not establish who is contacting you. Do not read a one-time code to an unsolicited caller.

Keep the account password and recovery methods secure. Only authorized people should approve a move. Helping someone compare plans does not require access to their transfer PIN.

Prepare a legitimate move privately

Use the current provider's authenticated process for account and transfer details. Check the credential's validity and give it only through the receiving provider's legitimate transfer channel. Do not post screenshots containing private codes in a public help forum.

Keep the line active until the new provider confirms completion. Follow one transfer process at a time, and ask for the actual rejection reason if details do not match.

Respond to an unexpected loss of service

A lost signal can have ordinary technical causes, but account-change alerts add a different concern. Contact the provider promptly through another available connection and secure affected accounts. The FCC's consumer resources explain phone-fraud risks and complaint routes.

Our guidance service does not need activation QR codes, account passwords, card details or transfer credentials to explain these steps.
