Compare the current plan's phone data, hotspot, international features and group-line arrangements. Not all Fi plans include the same connected-device options. Google's data-only SIM guidance identifies Flexible and Unlimited Premium as eligible, while Unlimited Standard and Unlimited Essentials are not eligible for that feature.

Check the live terms before deciding, because plan names and benefits can change. Distinguish a data-only device from a phone with its own number. A group account also needs clear responsibility for payments, member permissions and what happens when a person leaves.

Use Fi's official compatibility tool for the exact phone. Supported features can differ by device even when basic service works. Resolve any carrier lock before joining. A phone's ability to install an eSIM does not by itself prove full Fi feature support.

Fi's switching guidance uses the Google Fi app for supported activation. Keep trusted Wi-Fi and access to the correct Google account. Do not erase a working line until activation is confirmed. Test calls, SMS and data, and check which line is selected for data on a dual-SIM phone.

Read high-speed data, hotspot and any post-threshold behavior separately. A plan name does not establish unlimited top-speed use for every device. Confirm data-only SIM eligibility and the device types it supports before buying a tablet or router for that purpose.

Measure the tasks you need: a video meeting, upload or remote connection may reveal limitations that a quick web page does not. Check the official coverage information and device support. A 5G symbol is not a guarantee of indoor coverage or consistent throughput.

Check Fi's current travel and usage conditions before relying on it abroad. Travel inclusions are not a promise that all extended overseas usage is eligible. Confirm the exact country, plan, call treatment, data limits and any activation requirements before departure.

A travel eSIM and a Fi line can coexist on a supported device, but data selection and automatic switching matter. International calling from the United States, ordinary roaming and connectivity on ships or planes are distinct use cases. Review Wi-Fi-calling treatment too.

A phone purchase, financing arrangement or trade-in has its own eligibility, credit and return conditions. Review those before changing a Fi plan or moving a number. Obtain current unlocking information from the device seller rather than assuming every phone associated with Google is identical.

Google Fiber is a separate home-internet service with its own address eligibility and account terms. It is not included merely because a phone uses Fi. Review the Fi bill for service, device payments, optional protection, taxes and adjustments using official account tools.

The Google account used for Fi is central to account access. Keep recovery methods current and do not share verification codes. Install the Google Fi app only through links from Google or the verified store publisher. Our guidance line cannot recover a Google account.

When leaving, use Fi's official number-transfer instructions and preserve service until the receiving provider completes the port. For errors, record whether the issue is account sign-in, activation, network access or a pending transfer. Those are different problems and require different provider actions.
